Cebu Pacific e-Ticket

Yesterday, I bought my 1st ever online e-Ticket and I'm now holding the printout. Since I'm in Philippines, let's just hope that there will be no issues this monday when I get to the airport. I'll keep you posted. Bon cap de setmana!

Career-best (so far)

I had a great dart session (170 FIDO) last night. 10-game average is 17.3 with a career-best of 7. Wohoo! I hope the trend continues tonight.

In another topic, I attended a 3-day Synergistic Leadership training-workshop last week. For the 1st time in my adult life, somebody was able to carry my 215-lb frame (fireman's carry) and "rescue" me from the "landmine". I wasn't supposed to be "dead" but someone violated the game's rule while I was crossing the "landmine" so, kabooom!, I'm dead. Since the theme was to leave no one behind, Michael's adrenaline had to be released (in huge quantity hahaha). Thanks, Mike!

The workshop's great. I learned a lot and enabled me to put fuzzy things into clear sets of frame. One topic was about goals so, to start things off, my 1st written goal (shown to public) is to be at 200-lb by February 2007.

Let's play Darts!

Road to Pro begins.

Catchy line, huh? Well, that's what I'm calling this journey of mine and I hope things will turn out well.

Instead of a complete set, I ended up buying a separate board and dart set. Total cost is higher but I still prefer Pinoy & British-made stuff over Chinese-made cr#p. I just hope "Made in England" means just that. Who knows?

I logged about 6 hours over the weekend. My performance sucks as expected and I'm having a hard time shampooing myself and brushing my teeth with my right arm for 2 days now. Hopefully, the muscle ache will go down by tomorrow.

I monitored my "170" performance (15 FIFO games) and my average is 15.07 throws (or 11.28 points per dart). A totally ridiculously bad performance.

For my practice, I'll use "170 FIDO" and "round-the-board" games. I expect to increase my performance level to 20 points per dart by November. Wish me luck ;-)

Some interesting dart trivia here.

Hobby Q4 2006

This weekend, I'll be buying a dartboard set. This set costs P2,000. I want to be serious with this hobby/sport.

The last time I played darts was during my college days. It was mainly for fun and bets were minimal -- a liter of softdrinks or a P20-pizza. I consider my skill average but I'm competitive by nature. I'll try to monitor my performance and see if I really have "it". Otherwise...

I'll continue my interrupted life on photography. My ancient FujiFilm FinePix 2600Z 2.0MP digital camera is physically crumbling though it still gives excellent p&s quality pictures. I guess its retirement is near so I'm now sniffing for D-SLRs. My candidates are Canon EOS 400D (TBD), 350D (P43k), 300D (P35k), and maybe cheap prosumers from Nikon and Sony (suggestions are very much welcome!). I'll propose to my commander a P45k budget.

To be honest, I'm torn between a digital video camera and D-SLR. Price range is the same but I just can't have both of them right now. Hmmmmm...

2006 Cebu ASEAN Summit & Terrorism

ASEAN Summit is fast approaching (13 weeks to go!) and security preparation in and around Metro Cebu is gaining momentum. Construction at the summit site is feverish albeit bets are everywhere on whether the site will be fully completed or not in time for this important event. I passed by the site last weekend and site activity is, well, last-minute Filipino style. I'm not familiar with construction industry so don't take my observation seriously but I hope everything's up to national building standards. Otherwise...

Security personnel and checkpoints are increasing in number. This resulted to decreased vigilante killings and a sense of security in the populace (the good populace that is). However...

Today, 5th year Anniversary of 9/11, an explosion rocked the city of Mandaue. There are fatalities though the officials are playing down this issue. I don't blame them. With the summit just around the corner, Metro Cebu doesn't need this headache. I expect intensified intelligence monitoring and mobile patrol visibility.

I just don't know when will the proposed 5-day ASEAN Summit holiday (Dec. 4-9) be finalized. Just imagine a 5-week Christmas vacation. That will be awesome!
